DANCER

Dance is a transformative social and political energy for me. I believe in the power of the body to understand beyond language traps. The movement of the body moves also our mind and gives us the power to destabilize prefigured ideas about ourselves, removing the prejudices we have created about our own person. The tango, as the dance of shadow, nostalgia, and of the voluptuosity of encounter, opens up our chest to overcome pain without avoiding it. Contact improvisation, as the dance of sensation, allows us to observe our body as an autonomous entity, which liberates its own movement beyond our subjective will, reaching toward a direct communication with other bodies. Combining both perspectives has helped me to comprehend the relationship between mind and body, the self and others and the world and change.
